In my travels this summer to Europe, I met some awesome people who introduced me to some awesome shit. Rokysopp is just one of those bands. Röyksopp emerged from the Tromsø techno scene and Bergen Wave after experimenting with different genres of electronic music. The band solidified their place in the electronic music scene with their 2001 debut album, ^^ Melody A.M., released on Wall of Sound. Since then, the band has consistently experimented with various genres pertaining to electronica, gaining critical acclaim and success around the world. I like to think of Royksopp as being warm and fuzzy psychadelic music for the soul. Would strong reccommend downloading the album.

Arcade Fire: Part Duex
What can I say that I haven't said before. This band is so amazing in all aspects of music. Lyrically they are deep, and actually have a consistent theme and flow to thier albums. Their latest, The Suburbs, is kinda themed around growing up. I seen them live last night and this was my favorite song from the performance

I'd heam Starfucker
You have got to give respect that will never become VH1 darlings because they put "fuck" right in the name. This band maintains a very pop coating with very seductive undertones. The samples are sharp and smart and add contemplative depth to their songs. One can't help but think that all the electro grooves are there to deceive you, to trick you into thinking about the meaning (or lack their of) of our lives. One can tell they have a wide range of influences. I mean they have a song called "Biggie Smalls" and they cover "Girls Just Want To Have Fun" on the same album!

Care to dance your asses off?
If your down to dance your ass off on the regular, then I'm sure you've heard of this guy: Steve Aoki. He is one of my all time favorite DJ's. He truly knows how to bring it live. I've seen him twice now, most recently last weekend at Oxegen Festival in Ireland. For some crazy reason he came on at 3 in the day, in front of a bunch of DJs I've never even heard of, but no worries as it was inside a huge dance warehouse. This guy fuckin brought the heat! He started and closed with his hugely popular Warp 1.9 song he did with the Bloody Beatroots
WARP HERE
Anyways, as a avid runner, this guy is the perfect musician for me. Everytime I play his "Pillowface" cd I just want to move around. I find it hard controlling myself while running cause this cd just makes me want to shake my grove thang, getme?! Anyways on this cd he did a bunch of remixs and updates of songs, collaborating with Santogold to Justice. He even has a banging song thats completely in French and just might be my favorite track on the cd, but its just so damn hard to choose. Anyways without further ado here is my featured track off the album along with a link to snatch that shit up!

Only in my dreams can I fly away
I've been gone, paying a lot more attention to the World Cup recently than anything new on the music scene, but once thats over I'll be back to posting more regularly. Until then though I got this to hold you over.
Now this guy, B.O.B., I would assume is pretty big back there in Cali. He has that song Nothing On You and Airplanes getting radio play I'm sure, but this cd is so much deeper than that. He combines a great singing talent with some cool verses, and you can definitely feel his emotion in his songs. This song here "Don't Wake Me Up" pretty much sums how I feel, cause I see you in my dreams and just can't wait till I come home. DL just below!
Snatch that here

Recovery
Eminem's new cd Recovery recently leaked online (not due out till June 22nd.) This is my favorite cd by Eminem since the Marshall Mathers LP from earlier this century. It has a lot of R&B hooks and beats, but his flows are some of the best yet. While overall the chorus' suck, the verses are fire. Track after track is great, and it all starts with this gem, Cold Wind Blows:
This youtube video doesn't really do the song justice since the quality is so low, so I highly recommend downloading the full album here. This is an album I definitely will be buying on its release date, and its rumored there are 12 bonus tracks to download online with a code that comes with the cd. Lets keep our fingers crossed!! Highlights include WTP (white trash party), Cinderella Man (like a Till I Collapse pt2, the hook sucks, but after the beat knocks), and You're Never Over (a track about the last few years of his life, dedicated to Proof of D12 fame)
Tracklist:
1. "Cold Wind Blows"
2. "Talkin' 2 Myself" (featuring Kobe)
3. "On Fire"
4. "Won't Back Down" (featuring Pink)
5. "W.T.P."
6. "Going Through Changes"
7. "Not Afraid"
8. "Seduction"
9. "No Love" (featuring Lil Wayne)
10. "Space Bound"
11. "Cinderella Man"
12. "25 to Life"
13. "So Bad"
14. "Almost Famous"
15. "Love the Way You Lie" (featuring Rihanna)
16. "You're Never Over"
17. "Here We Go"

A Couple of Songs
The Fall- Blindness
A friend just showed me this song. It's literally still playing. Liked it right from the start.
Pearl Jam- Evolution
Crazy video man. Crazy.
Karen Elson- The Ghost Who Walks
Gosh I'm a sucker for old westy vibes. Last year I had Two Gallants stuck on repeat, this fall it was Morgan Paige's "Longest Road to Nowhere". I just heard this out of the blue and fell in love with it. Hope you like it too.
Happy Listening,

Duo Series: Arcade Fire & Interpol
Every wednesday from now I'll be posting this playlists I like to call Duo Series. They will feature two artists of similar sound, and generally be made of an hour of their best music, or at least songs that go well together. My goal in this is to give you a wider array of their music than just one specific album, and if you enjoy you it you can investigate further for yourself. Anyways, sit back, relax and enjoy the good vibes.
The first in this ongoing series is Arcade Fire and Interpol. These two artists just radiate positivity in a lot of their songs. Interpol, however does it in a darker more moody way. This band totally belongs in the 80's, and yet are extremely modern. They originate from NYC and are currently on tour with U2. You got to have talent to tour with one of the biggest bands of (just before) our time. Check it out here
This playlist also includes two new tracks from Arcade Fire and one from Interpol. They both are expected to put out new music by the end of this year. ENJOY THIS BITCH
Also don't forget to check out our "sister" site The Alameda forums. This place is fuckin hilarious, filled with insults, funny stories and insanely funny "this fool xxx looks like" topics.

On The Subject of Big Boi
My homie linked me to this video of Big Boi free-styling over Crystal Castles. Honestly I don't think he brings it that hard (still better than I can do), I just find it note worthy when artists I respect cross paths.

Post-Hyphy Acid Jazz
Mono/Poly- ParamatmaJust received this album in the mail today and gave it a quick listen through. Here's a couple tracks that stood out, hope you like them:
Waters of Duality-
My favorite track, skip to 5:20 though unless you want to hear the only kinda cool intro speech.
Antibodies-
A real pleasure to listen to, especially the Terrence McKenna quote at the end. It's a bit abrasive, keep that in mind.
For those of you who like Dubstep:
Roots in Earth (Muladhara)-
This one has a real nice groove, but it doesn't move too much.
Overall: Solid release, had some lulls, but they still served to improve the album as a whole. Plus the new USB Card format just looks cool.
Edit: Forgot to give a link to buy the album (trust me, you'll want it just for the cool format). Album contains 19 high quality 320 kbps mp3 files, 3 bonus tracks and a whole bunch of multimedia extra shit. Pick it up for under $20 (cheaper than itunes) at http://www.tastefullicks.com/releases.cfm/artist/Mono_Poly.

Shigeto- the Semicircle EP
Downloaded this a while ago, good stuff, very relaxing.
Eternal Life-
Good early/late evening track.
There is Always Hope-
Very similar to the middle of Paramatma, still very good, very jazzy.
Bakers Blunt Basics-
Nice track, I like it a lot.
Overall: Not something I'd play at a party, this release by Shigeto still is a very strong piece that I've been pretty pleased with. Pick it up at http://ghostly.com/releases/semi-circle-ep
Not really Acid Jazz, but still good:
Happy Listening,

Vitalic
I've been throwing this album on repeat. Great haunting vibes, plus it slaps. Also kills on a club setting. The title track "Flashmob" was actually in the first DJ mix I ever made (like a few months ago, so CLEARLY ancient history).
Next on this particular hit list, my new favorite house artist, Gui Boratto. The words "chill", "pleasent", and "euphoric" come to mind when I listen to him, and no I wasn't rolling when I first heard him. His music has slow progressions that pay off with a mellow sort of satisfaction. Also, dude is Brazilian, and in my experience, that makes him automatically good at music.
Vitalic's "Flashmob" here
Gui Boratto's "Take My Breath Away" over here
Nigga Kaso

and if you were unaware...
Division east is the truth, and my man GDP, is runnin shit. Real hipheeze for those that want something that they can relate to. I'm just throwing this out there but if you haven't read ender's game, do it fast.
OH HAI I POST MANIACLY...
could be the 4loco, but whatever. this song is retarded good, julian says it should be in a movie, i agree. to have your chorus be basically an orgasm is awesome. lyrics underneath. love it.

CAM ON SOME REAL SHIT
If you love Cam. Even if you don't. This is a mainstream rapper on a lightweight real topic. Love it.
Ok so Blu is technically music but...
This video is fucking amazing. I'm becoming a huge fan of stop motion cinematography. Also, far as a soundtrack goes, i think Blu did a great job, the soundtrack emulates the incongruence of video perfectly. Peep Game Putz.
As far as music goes, peep this Future Islands song titled Flicker and Flutter. Here's the link to the zip for the album
Super synthed out and the vocals remind me of TV on the Radio, but think of it like how sometimes amateur porn is better than well produced porn, if that makes any sense. Enjoy.
- Locke.
edit:I'm still learning how to do all this, but i assure you, the links i just sent are solid. Fuck with it.

I've arrived
So Craze wants me to post something? Will do breh.
Outside lands was just mentioned on this here blog, and there are quite the number of badass acts coming through. One you definitely haven't heard is Langhorne Slim. I actually met this guy when I went and saw Queens of The Stone Age at the Warfield. He has a great folk sound going for him. Emotional lyrics + lo-fi recoding = instant win. Here's the "Restless" video (he had that same hat on when I met the fool.)
Another act that is a must see is Pretty Lights. Groovy, glitchy, dirty, soulful electro. If you dig Ratatat or Glitchmob (which you fucking should) then you're gonna be all about pretty lights.
Pretty Lights has a lot of free material at his site,
Langhorne Slim is a local artist, so I'm not going out of my way to show you how to dl him. Youz crafty anyways breh.

Nas & Damien Marley, Rebulution
So this morning, I'm chilling out listening to the new Nas & Damien Marley cd, Distant Relatives, and the Outside Lands festival comes out. Guess whose playing? Yep, them two, as well as The Strokes, Kings of Leon (I know you girls are screaming now), People Under The Stairs, Tokyo Police Club, Phoenix and more. I'm really excited about this. Anyways this Distant Relatives album is sick! The first track hooks you right in, and this thing is spewing with positive energy. A really great collaboration effort. Here's the first track:

12. "My Generation" (featuring Joss Stone & Lil Wayne)

I'm a huge Zion-I fan, and last year they went on tour with Rebulution. I really hadn't heard much from them, but a lot of my friends rant and rave about them. Reagan can speak on that... Anyways, DJ Amp Live of Zion-I did a really sick couple of remixes for them. Zion-I put these out for free on their site, which you can get for free HERE. This is a remix of Safe and Sound

Arcade Fire
This summer I'm going to be attending Oxegen, a festival of massive proportions in Ireland. Headliners include Eminem, Muse, and a band that I've seen live before, The Arcade Fire. They are hands down the best performers I've ever seen. They are an indie rock band out of Canada made of seven members playing all different kinds of instruments.
I seen them in September of 2007. Opening for them was LCD Soundsystem, who are not too bad themselves. Shortly after LCD Soundsystem finished their set, a storm started to brew, but regardless Arcade Fire went on. Around halfway through the show there was a lightning storm, and everyone rushed the stage! It was amazing and only enhanced the visual performance of this band. By the end of their set it was pouring and the drummer ran out into the crowd banging his drum all the way to the grassy knolls of Shoreline Amphitheater. Anyways, if you haven't heard them before check them out.
This is "Haiti" of their album Funeral
Full Album Here
Tracklisting:
1. "Neighborhood #1 (Tunnels)"
2. "Neighborhood #2 (Laïka)"

6. "Crown of Love"
7. "Wake Up"
8. "Haïti"

Fashawn & J. Cole
A quick second post here, cause I can't start this off with just one post. Since coming back to Ireland from California last month, I've checked out over 500 new songs (well to my library at least) I frequent music forums and what not always on the look for new shit. I came across two great hip-hop artists, Fashawn & J. Cole.
Fashawn is a hip-hop act from California. Unlike many rappers today, he doesn't speak of himself slanging coke and flipping bricks, but instead speaks from a third persons point of view on various situations he has seen growing up as a kid. He currently is working on a mixtape, on which he will rhyme over all the beats from Nas' classic Illmatic. His first cd, Boy Meets World is a great venture and a solid listen all the way through. This is my favorite song off the album When She Calls

This other artist, J. Cole was recently signed by Jay-Z. You know the first guy signed by Jay himself has to be good, so I really don't feel I need to go further. His debut album has yet to drop (expected late 2010) however his mixtape 'The Warm Up' has been in constant rotation on my playlist. Here is one of my favorites "Can I Live"

Hello!! Broken Bells are ringing
Welcome to the new music blog as hosted by Craz3r and Kaso. Many great things to come soon. This will be a great place for people to come and check out new techno and hip-hop acts, as well as anything else that sounds swell. We will provide ya'll with download links to preview some great albums, however, as with most music blogs these downloads are for PREVIEW purposes only, and the files should be deleted after a listen. Support the artists and buy their cd's if you enjoy the music you find here.
Most of the album uploads will be in .rar format. This is basically like a .zip file, only it works better and is more commonly used. To "unzip" these files there are a couple programs you can get, but I suggest this free program for Windows, and this one for Macs.
To start our blog I'd like to introduce the world to Broken Bells. If you've checked my facebook recently, or talked to me I've been ranting about these guys for weeks. I randomly stumbled upon them looking in MF Doom projects. He actually has nothing to do with them, but one of his partners in crime, Danger Mouse is the producer on the album. It was a joint operation by him and the lead singer of indie rock band, The Shins, James Mercer. Without further ado here is my favorite track off the album, Vaporize:
The album can be downloaded here
Tracklisting as follows:
1. "The High Road" – 3:54
2. "Vaporize" – 3:32
3. "Your Head Is on Fire" – 3:06
4. "The Ghost Inside" – 3:19
5. "Sailing to Nowhere" – 3:46
6. "Trap Doors" – 3:19
7. "Citizen" – 4:29
8. "October" – 3:37
9. "Mongrel Heart" – 4:26
10. "The Mall and Misery" – 4:06
